Description

Some 14,000 documents written by "nearly" 300 black men and women, dealing with the movement to end slavery. Included are letters, speeches, editorials, articles, sermons, and essays, copied from newspapers and manuscript collections held in the US, Canada and the UK. There is also a 5 volume selection from these papers in the book stacks( ALEXANDER E449.B624 1985), which includes some 10% of the complete microfilm collection. It is well indexed and provides a good starting point for approaching the bigger set.
